New local coffee shop openings
Astoria has recently been enjoying a spate of local coffee shop openings, diversifying the options that community members have when they want to get their quick fix. For those interested in taste-testing the new coffee places, here are some upcoming coffee shops to check out later this month [DNA].
60 Beans
36-02 Ditmars Blvd.
This third-wave coffee and tea house opened just three days ago. A selection of coffee, tea, and baked goods will be sold as well as craft beer/wine in the evening. Free WiFi and outdoor seating will also be available.
OK Cafe
22-04 33rd St.
This cafe opened in the beginning of August. It serves organic coffee and tea as well as vegan and gluten-free pastry options, although there are other pastry foods for the non-vegan and gluten-eating demographic. The coffee shop also offers unconventional menu items, such as a Mexican mocha spiced with chilies.
Astoria Coffee
30-04 30th St.
The owners of this coffee shop hope to open their place sometime this August. Coffee, tea, and pastries will be served. The owners plan to rotate their coffee roasters approximately every month in order to showcase the diversity of types of coffees in the world. An expansion of food options is in the mix. The coffee shop will provide WiFi and plans to host the works of local artists.
