“Meet Hunter’s Point South” affordable housing development this Saturday

With the halfway mark for the Hunter’s Point South Living affordable housing lottery application deadline approaching, the development will be hosting a Party in the Park tomorrow so New Yorkers can “Meet Hunter’s Point South.”

Hunter’s Point is a new housing development in Long Island City that will include 925 low- and moderate-income affordable apartments, which are currently open for applications. The application process opened on Oct. 15th and will close on Dec. 15th. Qualified applicants will begin to be notified of their housing lottery status in early 2015, and the first group of selected residents can expect to begin moving into the buildings in spring 2015.

The Hunter’s Point South buildings will offer residents a number of shared amenities including: public terraces, fitness centers, tech centers, bike storage, a community roof-top garden, party rooms, laundry rooms, a parking garage and a pet amenity. Both buildings will be fully staffed with 24-hour lobby attendants and an on-site resident manager will also be available. All apartments will include dishwashers, and each of the two- and three-bedroom apartments will have in-unit washers and dryers.

Those interested in living in the apartments can head to the development tomorrow from 1 to 4 p.m. for an informational, fun party.

The afternoon will feature free music and family-fun activities, and all visitors will receive free food during the first hour of the event from some of New York’s most popular food trucks and vendors.

Free transportation will also be made available on an exclusive East River Ferry vessel running to and from East 34th Street in Manhattan to Hunter’s Point South every 15 minutes between the hours of noon and 5 p.m.

All guests will also be invited to participate in a free raffle at the HPSLiving photo booth by posting their pictures on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram and using #HPSLiving. Winners will be announced on the Hunter’s Point South Living Facebook and Twitter pages on Monday at noon and will get gift certificates to some of LIC’s best restaurants and shops.
