MTA announces at least 12 weekends without 7 train in 2015

According to an update from the MTA’s website, 7 train riders should expect a good number of service changes throughout 2015.

Planned service changes from January to May will close down portions of the line for at least 12 weekends at the beginning of the year.

Service will be shut down between Times Square-42nd Street and 74th Street-Broadway for two weekends, between Times Square-42nd Street and Hunters Point Avenue for three weekends, between Times Square-42nd Street and Queensboro Plaza for four weekends, and between Mets-Willets Point and Flushing-Main Street for three weekends.

During those weekends, services will stop running from late Friday to early Monday, or on some weekends from 2 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

The service shutdowns are a result of ongoing work for necessary improvement projects, including installing a new signal system, restoring the Steinway Tubes and replacing tracks.
