Construction at Hallets Point to begin in October

Astoria residents can expect to see construction begin at the Hallets Point development — made up of seven residential buildings with 2,200 apartments — this October.

The Durst Organization says that construction will be done in phases and should be completed in six years.

The development will also include a public school, retail space and a waterfront esplanade. Twenty percent of the 2,200 new apartments are being marketed as “affordable” housing.
