Senator blasts MTA for poor train service in western Queens

Following a disastrous week for the 7 train, as well as the N, Q and R lines, one politician shot back at the MTA saying that the service disruptions were “unacceptable.”

“In the past 24 hours every train line connecting Queens to Manhattan experienced significant problems and that is unacceptable,” Senator Gianaris said. “Service disruptions like this are far too common for those of us who live in western Queens, especially during this freezing cold winter. The MTA left too many commuters out in the cold this week and that needs to change quickly.”

On Monday, commuters on the 7 train got stuck on the tracks for hours without heat when the line shut down from end to end due to ice on the rails. Service was disrupted for a full six hours, stopping at 9 a.m. and only partially resuming at 4:30 p.m.

Meanwhile a small fire on the tracks for the N, Q and R trains on Tuesday morning led to a suspension of N and Q trains between Queensboro Plaza and 57th Street-Seventh Avenue in Manhattan.
