Landmark Bel Aire diner to add outdoor seating
Astoria residents could soon enjoy grub from Broadway mainstay Bel Aire diner in the fresh air.
DNAinfo is reporting Community Board 1 unanimously approved the diner’s application to provide outdoor seating on Broadway. There will be 8 tables with 16 chairs.
Although the diner is open 24 hours a day, outdoor seating will only be available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Pat Dellaportas, who co-owns the restaurant with her husband Archie, is quoted as saying they’ll be implementing the new seating as soon as they’re allowed.
The eatery, located at 21st St. and Broadway in a landmark art-deco building, has been serving standard diner fare like fries, sandwiches and omelettes for decades.
