Street to be renamed in honor of Dennis Syntilas

Athens_Square,_Astoria,_NYDennis Syntilas, the former founder of the Greek-American Homeowners Association and an instrumental community member in the creation of Athens Square Plaza will be honored by the community and local elected officials on Saturday.

The intersection of 30th Avenue and 30th Street, in front of Athens Square, will be ceremonially renamed in honor of the civic leader and community organizer who “helped make Greek culture and enduring part of Queens culture,” according to a release.

The ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m.
