In honor of Flag Day on June 14, Boy Scout Troop 65 of the Variety Boys and Girls Club gathered with several worn American flags. The flags were donated as part of a Worn American Flag Retirement drive hosted by the office of Councilman Costa Constantinides.

“Our flag is one of the most well-known and long-lasting symbols of our nation,” Constantinides said. “Its stars and stripes are illustrative of our inclusiveness. We celebrate Flag Day with this retirement drive and honor our national symbol.”

Tom Sanchez, the scoutmaster for Troop 65, thanked everyone who donated flag. They will hold a ceremony in the near future to retire the flags.

“We look forward to continuing to service the community,” Sanchez said.
