In May, State Senator Michael Gianaris selected World War II veteran and longtime Mets usher Luke Gasparre to join the New York State Senate Veterans’ Hall of Fame.

Tomorrow night, the vet will be honored at the Federation of Italian-American Organization (FIAO) Italian Night at Athens Square Park.

Born in 1924 and a lifelong Astoria resident, Gasparre fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was also awarded the French Purple Heart, recognizing battle injuries and bravery in the face of danger.

The ceremony will be tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. at Athens Square Park, on 30th Avenue and 29th Street.
