Councilman Costa Constantinides used a power washer on Wednesday to help remove graffiti from a fence on 23rd Street. He joined the Queens Economic Development Corporation (QEDC) for their graffiti removal services, which they provide in Astoria and other neighborhoods in Queens.

Two weeks ago, Constantinides announced he was allocating more than $200,000 to multiple efforts to keep Astoria clean, including graffiti removal and additional trash pickups by the Department of Sanitation (DSNY).

Part of that investment includes $21,000 given to QEDC for its on-demand graffiti removal services.

“As I have heard from residents in this area, this fence on 23rd Street has been plagued by graffiti for years,” Constantinides said. “It is gratifying to be able to help remove this blight from this residential block. Caring for our neighborhood and keeping it clean for residents and visitors is a top priority for us.”

If local residents wish to report graffiti in their area, call Councilman Constantinides’s office at 718-274-4500 to have it removed.
