The Girl Scouts spread some holiday cheer to the homeless women living at Pam’s Place last week in Dutch Kills.

Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer joined the scouts, the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) and the Dutch Kills Civic Association to host the event.

They made gingerbread houses, exchanged cards and listened to holiday music.

“The holidays are a time of compassion and empathy,” Van Bramer said. “We wanted to bring joy to our neighbors in Pam’s Place – and the women living in this shelter are our neighbors and a part of our community.”

“Homeless New Yorkers are our neighbors who are down on their luck and need a helping hand,” added DHS Commissioner Steven Banks. “We appreciate beyond measure this and other support from elected officials and community members, not just during the holidays but all year long.”
