Queens Pride hosts winter fundraiser

Over the weekend, elected officials joined Queens Pride and the organizers of the LGBT Pride Parade and Multicultural Festival for their annual “Winter Pride” fundraiser at Astoria World Manor.

The event honored the following people and groups for their contributions to the LGBT rights movement in Queens:

• Councilman I. Daneek Miller
• Andrew Ronan and Chris Calvert, former Queens Pride co-chairs
• Chutney Pride

Councilman Daniel Dromm, Congressman Joseph Crowley, State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, Public Advocate Letitia James and Comptroller Scott Stringer also attended the event.

“As the founder of the Queens LGBT Pride Parade and Multicultural Festival, I thank the honorees who have contributed so much to the LGBT rights movement in our borough,” Dromm said. “It is my pleasure to join the host of activists, elected officials and other leaders present in applauding your exemplary work.”
