Elderly man robbed inside elevator
An 83-year-old Astoria man was robbed inside the elevator of his own residential building on Saturday afternoon, according to authorities.
Police say that at approximately 6:42 p.m., two men got inside an apartment building near 21st Street and 36th Avenue. They followed the 83-year-old victim inside an elevator at the lobby.
Once the door closed, police say one of the suspects showed a knife and told the victim, “Don’t make a noise.” Meanwhile, the second suspect took the man’s cell phone and $20.
They left the apartment building. Luckily, the victim walked away physically unscathed.
