Democratic club leaders honored at annual dinner

IMG_5475Last week, more than 100 members of the Powhatan and Pocahontas Regular Democratic Club met for their annual Dinner Dance to celebrate the club’s achievements over the past year.

The club honored six community leaders for their work. The honorees were:

  • Patrick Dolan, president, Enterprise Association of Steamfitters, Local Union 638
  • Eve Cho Guillergan, U.S. immigration attorney
  • Santos Rodriguez, director of community affairs and strategic initiatives, Building and Construction Trades Council
  • Jesse Rose and Avinder Aujla, members of the Powhatan and Pocahontas Democratic Club
  • Lynn Schulman, community and LGBT activist

Founded in 1901, the democratic clubs represent the 36th Assembly District in Astoria.

“We are honored to recognize all of these community leaders’ amazing accomplishments,” said club president Dirk McCall. “Their work providing legal assistance, advocating for labor, and helping communities in need is exemplary. They are truly role models for our neighborhood to follow.”
