Queens Fulbright winners complete prestigious program
Two Astoria residents were among the Fulbright Award winners who have completed their year-long program abroad.
Alexandra Garcia and Jennifer Spindler met with Congressman Joseph Crowley last week, who congratulated the Fulbright winners for completing their prestigious program. They were given certificates of Congressional recognition.
Established in 1946, the Fulbright program sponsors Americans complete teaching or research in other countries. Its purpose is to increase mutual understanding between countries.
Garcia spent her year in Spain, where she taught English, international civic and personal finance. Spindler worked with a child development nonprofit organization in Chile.
