In the 2018 cycle of participatory budgeting for District 22, residents and delegates came up with 12 projects to improve the neighborhood.
Here are the 12:
- Redo children’s play area at Astoria and Steinway libraries: $300,000
- Gate refurbishment at MS 126: $250,000
- Hydroponics lab at Long Island City High School: $250,000
- Security system at Young Women’s Leadership SchooL: $450,000
- Research library at PS 17: $250,000
- Auditorium audio/video system at PS 122: $125,000
- Technology updates at Long Island City High School: $350,000
- STEM lab at IS 141: $300,000
- Tech lab at IS 10: $150,000
- Lighting at Astoria Houses Community Center: $150,000
- Toolshed at Two Coves Community Garden: $35,000
- Road repair and resurfacing in the district: $250,000
The top winners, up to $1 million, will be funded.
Voting will run from April 7-15. Residents in the district ages 14 and up can participate in voting.
