Astoria street cleaning event set for Sunday

Residents of Old Astoria are teaming up with local elected officials to clean up the neighborhood.

Old Astoria Neighborhood Association and the Family Church will host a street cleaning event on Sunday, September 16 at noon. Meet at the Family Church, located at 26-13 18th Street.

Councilman Costa Constantinides will be among several politicians attending and cleaning up the area.

“A clean street can do wonders for the overall health of a community,” he said, “which is why we sometimes must step up to make that happen.”

The cleanup will begin at 1:30 p.m., and volunteers will be assigned to different streets.

At 3:30 p.m., volunteers will meet back up at The Family Church to debrief the event and discuss next steps.
