If you’re a regular at Astoria Park, you’ll know that the track and field under the Triborough Bridge needs some work.

Well, that’s exactly what’s happening. As part of a $30 million initiative, Astoria Park is undergoing a big renovation project.

Among the changes is that the track will be converted into a synthetic turf soccer field and track. There will be better methods of soil erosion and other site amenities.

The second phase of the makeover will reconstruct Charybdis Playground, the spray shower and comfort station.

All construction is expected to be done by summer 2020.
