3v3 Basketball Fundraiser at the Variety Boys & Girls Club

The Variety Boys and Girls Club and Edward Jones have teamed up to host a 3v3 basketball invitational tournament on May 4th from 10am – 2pm. Games will be played at the Club, located at 21-12 30th Rd. in Astoria.

Edward Jones is the title sponsor, donating $5,000 to the Club. Other organizations involved are: Heroes Basketball, Chip NYC, Maspeth Federal, Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Real Estate, CM3 (Charles Melone), Phenom Sportswear, and more…

Team entries are $500. Sponsorships start at $1,000. Teams may have 3-5 players. Gym will open at 9:30am, and the tournament will conclude ay 2pm. The tournament is co-ed, and competition will be recreational.

All proceeds of the tournament will be donated to the the Variety Boys & Girls Club, a non-profit specializing in providing children of all ages with high quality programming. They pride themselves in being the largest youth development organization in Western Queens, serving over 4,000 young people each year.

“Spring is here, it’s time to get active… and for a good cause,” exclaimed John Renda, an Edward Jones Financial Advisor and an organizer of the tournament. Renda serves on the young professionals board at the Club. A board that volunteers, networks, and runs events that benefit the Club throughout the year.

The Club’s 30,000 square foot facility is open to the community 7-days a week and includes an indoor swimming pool, makerspace lab, computer room, teaching kitchen, gym, auditorium, art studio, dance studio, film studio, and outdoor playground.

Each and everyday, the Club manifests their mission through their core program areas: Academic Enhancement, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), Healthy Living and the Arts. Their comprehensive range of programs are offered to all children (ages 6-18) including homework help, swimming and sports, coding, engineering, gourmet cooking, drama, dance, media production and so much more.
