Southbound BQE will be closed from Grand Central Parkway’s Exit 4

The city Department of Transportation is closing the southbound Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE) from Grand Central Parkway westbound on Exit 4 from Wednesday, April 24 at 11 p.m. to Thursday, April 25 at 5 a.m., and again from Thursday, April 25 at midnight to Friday, April 26 at 5:30 a.m.

The full closure is to facilitate major resurfacing work, DOT says.

Drivers will be required to exit westbound Grand Central Parkway at Exit 5 instead at 82nd Street. They will then detour along westbound Astoria Boulevard on the service road.

Motorists can then turn left at 43rd Street to go over the highway, and make another left onto eastbound Astoria Boulevard service road. They can then re-enter the southbound BQE at 45th Street.

To avoid the area altogether, use Northern Boulevard to BQE as an alternate.
