LaGuardia Airport celebrates 80th anniversary

The Port Authority is celebrating the 80th anniversary of LaGuardia Airport tomorrow morning in the Marine Air Terminal.

LaGuardia Airport Interim General Manager Tony Vero and Deputy General Manager Christina Callahan will be in attendance, as well as Huntley Lawrence, director of aviation at the Port Authority, as State Senator Jessica Ramos.

The first aircraft landed at the newly-built airport on December 2, 1939, nearly 80 years ago.

They will celebrate all that has changed over eight decades, including the new $8 billion makeover currently taking place at the airport.
