Mount Sinai receives $3 million for medical equipment

In its latest budget, the New York City Council has allocated $3 million to Mount Sinai Queens for new medical equipment.

The Astoria hospital will purchase a new MRI and CT scan machines with the funding.

Mount Sinai Queens is one of just two hospitals serving western Queens, along with Elmhurst Hospital.

Last summer, the City Council also allocated $1.8 million to Mount Sinai Queens to open a new cerebrovascular stroke center.

“The expansion of our Imaging services with an additional MRI and CT scanner will improve access to care and enhance the patient experience,” says Caryn Schwab, executive director of Mount Sinai Queens.

“This equipment is critical in the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of a broad range of diseases including cancer care.”
