Treecycle your Christmas tree at Astoria Park

MULCHFEST TREE & MULCHER LOGOIt’s the new year, which means that on top of all of your new year’s resolutions, you also have to face the chore of taking down and disposing of your Christmas tree.

But before you chuck your greenery to the curb, consider holding onto it until this weekend and then bring it to Mulchfest 2015 in Astoria Park.

On Saturday and Sunday (Jan. 10th – 11th) you can bring your tree to the Astoria Park parking lot (19th Street and Hoyt Avenue North) any time from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and leave it there to be turned into mulch. Or, if you don’t have a tree or already tossed it, you can head over to the park for some free mulch.

If you’re looking to do more than just donating a tree, MillionTreesNYC is looking for volunteers to help spread the mulch created during the event around young street tree beds. The mulch will help protect the trees from the cold weather.

You can register to volunteer by clicking here.

Mulchfest is entirely free and all are welcome to join.
