vbgc-logo274x161On Thursday, June 13th, the Young Professionals Committee (YPC) at the Variety Boys & Girls Club (21-12 30th Rd. Astoria) is hosting career day for kids in the community.

From 4:30-6:30PM, members of the YPC, and their network of friends and colleagues will be on site at the Club to tell the youth of the Club what exactly it is that they do.

A few career day volunteers are: Chris Villari from Skanska-Walsh Construction, Andrea Bischof and Katherine Cote from the financial industry, Peter Phillips from Chip New York City, John Sanchez from The Astoria Journal Newspaper, John Renda from Edward Jones Financial Planning, Elsbeth Grant – Variety’s education expert, Russel Mcaleavey from the financial law industry, John Reinhardt from Urban Planning, Caitlyn Sanchez from Amazon, Joe Kim from Tech Startups, Brett Swanson from Lime Bike, and more…

These professionals will have a table, and will be ready to answer questions from middle and high school kids, who will be circulating the room in hopes of learning about interesting professions.

“Join us and help inform and motivate our Club kids. No matter how big, how small, or how unique your job is, your involvement will have a major positive impact on the lives of these community kids,” said Russel Mcaleavey, a member of Variety’s YPC.

If you would like to attend career day as a business professional, or to bring your child to the event, contact Elsbeth at: 718-728-0946 or email: egrant@bgcqueens.org
