Rainey Park receives $3.7 million for upgrades

Last week, Parks officials joined Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer, Ravenswood Houses residents and Dutch Kills civic leaders to announce that Rainey Park will undergo a $3.7 million renovation.

The improvements will include remaking the park’s play areas, athletic fields, sidewalks and green spaces.

With this new allocation from Van Bramer, a total of $7.5 million has been invested into Rainey Park for refurbishment, including $800,000 from the borough president’s office.

This will be the first upgrade to the park in more than a decade, Van Bramer said.

“Rainey Park is beloved by our Ravenswood community and local schools, and it provides much-needed green space to the surrounding Astoria and Long Island City areas,” he says.
