Saturday marked the first day of early voting in New York City, and one of Astoria’s cultural institutions serves as an early voting site.

From now until November 3, voters can cast their ballots ahead of Election Day at specific sites. In Astoria, the early voting location is the Museum of the Moving Image.

State Senator Mike Gianaris, a sponsor of early voting legislation in Albany, was one of the first voters in Queens to cast their ballots.

“At a time when voting rights are under assault, we must fight for our democracy because there’s nothing more important than the right to vote,” the senator says. “I encourage everyone to exercise their right to vote by using the new laws we enacted this year.”
