Astoria hosts bus network redesign feedback session

Last week, local elected officials and Community Board 1 hosted a feedback session with MTA representatives on the bus network redesign plan.

The event took place at the HANAC Harmony JVL Innovative Center. After a presentation from the MTA officials, residents got a chance to share their thoughts and concerns.

Some residents expressed concerns about discontinued service to Midtown East, as well as accessibility for seniors and people with disabilities.

Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas, who co-hosted the session, said she wants everyone who uses buses to know that changes are coming.

“Our borough is already significantly underserved by the subway system,” she said. “These changes will greatly affect many riders’ daily lives, including their access to work, education and health care.”
