Simotas supplies seniors with PPE

Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas stopped by the HANAC George Douris Tower and the Archbishop Iakovos Residence in Astoria to hand out personal protective equipment (PPE) last week.

Simotas, who was defeated in the Democratic primary this past summer by first-time candidate Zohran Mamdani, is still serving constituents who are most vulnerable to the virus.

“our seniors are more likely to experience the worst symptoms of COVID-19, so it is necessary to make sure they receive additional protective gear to remain safe as they navigate the community,” she said.

Over one in five facilities faced a staff shortage or PPE shortage in early July. Workers at nursing homes across the city were forced to wear makeshift gear instead.
