Reports: Astoria woman mauled by dog

A 75-year-old woman in Astoria was reportedly mauled by her family dog, leading to her death.

Police say that at approximately 1 a.m. on Monday, authorities responded to a 911 call from inside 38-07 27th Street.

EMS discovered 75-year-old Louise Hermida unconscious and unresponsive with trauma to her upper torso.

She was taken to Cornell Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The dog also bit Hermida’s 39-year-old son, who is autistic, according to reports. He was taken to Cornell Hospital and is now in stable condition.

The New York City Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
