Gianaris partners with Astoria Welfare Society for food distribution

Community organizations and local elected officials are continuing to provide relief and supplies to neighbors in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last week, State Senator Michael Gianaris teamed up with the Astoria Welfare Society to distribute fresh food to community members.

“COVID-19 is an unprecedented crisis, but Queens has risen to the challenge and our neighbors have answered the call of those in need,” he said.

Jabed Uddin, secretary of the Astoria Welfare Network, said, “Working to safeguard the western Queens community against the presence of COVID-19 continues to require the work of volunteers around the clock.”
