NYC Ferry releases Astoria Route schedule

unnamed-10New York City Economic Development Corporation (EDC) released the schedule for NYC Ferry’s Astoria Route today, which is set to launch on Tuesday, August 29.

Beginning at 6:30 a.m., the ferry will take residents by water to Roosevelt Island, Long Island City, Midtown and Lower Manhattan.

The 45-minute route will make five stops, culminating at Wall Street’s Pier 11. Astoria Route passengers can transfer to all other NYC Ferry routes at East 24th Street and Wall Street.

“In less than four months, NYC Fery has been a tremendous success, serving more than 1.4 million riders. Now we’re launching the Astoria Route, providing much needed  public transit for people in Western Queens and Roosevelt Island,” said EDC President James Patchett. “For the same cost of a subway ride, we’re connecting New Yorkers with good jobs and opportunities all across the city.”

Once the ferry system is fully operational, it will cover more than 60 miles of waterways at $2.75 per ride.

And due to high demand, NYC Ferry recently announced it is adding capacity to three of its 20 boats. The expanded boats will have bigger engines and can fit 250 passengers.
