‘Cop Car’ is filled with suspense, thrills and Kevin Bacon

Kevin Bacon may be known as one of Hollywood’s A-list actors, but that didn’t stop him from joining the talented cast of Cop Car.

The film follows two young boys after they’ve run away from their homes and subsequently discover an abandoned cop car amongst a secluded glade within the golden fields. The cop car, left opened with the keys still inside the vehicle, belongs to the sheriff (Bacon). Hiding a dark secret in the trunk, the sheriff ends up going on a wild goose chase to retrieve his car from the two boys.

While Bacon undoubtedly plays his mean, manipulative, drug-fueled character to perfection, the true stars of the film are James Freedson-Jackson and Hays Wellford. Between their juvenile innocence and gutsy approach, both boys are charming to watch. Their characters’ mannerisms are so real that it’s easy to forget that you are watching two actors.

The suspenseful and dark film, which is only the second for Director and Screen Writer Jon Watts, opens in theaters on August 7.
