Astoria Blvd station is back

After nine long, excruciating months, the Astoria Boulevard N/W station is finally back.

The MTA has completed the first phase of a reconstruction project that involved demolishing and rebuild the station’s mezzanine. It now has more vertical clearance so trucks and other vehicles can go under it without any problem.

The next phase, set for completion by fall 2020, includes adding four new elevators (it’s about time!) and other accessibility features.

The new and improved Astoria Blvd will have rebuilt elevated walkways, new benches, finished platform stair enclosures, new digital service information signage and new artwork.

Every other N/W station in Astoria has undergone renovations. Hopefully, this will mean improved transit experiences for all of Astoria’s straphangers.
