Old Astoria finally gets alternate-side parking

After two decades of advocacy, Old Astoria is finally getting regular street cleaning.

On Monday, DOT and DSNY announced that Alternate Side Parking (ASP) regulations will be implemented in the area shown above, west of 21st Street.

Signs are being installed now, and is expected to take two to three weeks to complete.

DOT is suspending ASP for the time being, until the signs are displayed throughout the neighborhood.

ASP will be once per side per week, meaning two days per week.

OANA President Richard Khuzami, who has long advocated for street cleaning, applauded the announcement as a victory.

He credited Councilman Costa Constantinides, OANA officer Kevin Hernandez, Pastor Lucas Izidoro and Victor Prada from the Family Church, and many others who helped along the way.
