Downed trees all over Astoria after Isaias

In the aftermath of Tropical Storm Isaias, trees and wires were brought down all over New York City, including Astoria.

The damage was so bad thatĀ even Mayor Bill de Blasio visited Astoria to survey the wreckage.

The storm caused hundreds of households without power in the neighborhood. According to data from the Queens Borough President’s office, as of Sunday morning, 322 households within Community Board 1 were still left in the dark.

Trees not only came down on homes, but also all over sidewalks and roads, as seen above.

We’ve already seen Parks Department workers clear out some of these trees, but there’s still work to be done.
